Bo Vloors (she/her b.1993) is a visual artist, writer, photographer and filmmaker based in Brussels. Using image and text, her work revolves around human relations, within and with their surroundings, and the influential power of images.

Inspired by natural cycles and symbiotic arrangements, she often focuses on rhythms, perception of time, movements and gestures. Rarely creating within a predefined context, her work finds its origins in the repeated consultation of an ever-expanding archive that she has built up over the past decade. Consisting of a wide variety of her own photographs, texts, audiovisual and audio recordings, she uses the archive as an inexhaustible source for creation, inspiration, material and reflection, which continues to grow to this day.

The Image stands central in her practice. But through the use of image and word in her image-text based works, she unites an external movement of registration (the image) with an internal movement of analysis (the word). Exploring her role as an image-maker (both in images and words), she often approaching her writings as The Missing Image, which serve as a complementary, affirmative or rhetorical purpose in relation to the actual image. In doing so, she often addresses the limited representation of reality through the image, emphasizes the responsibility of the image-maker and questions the romanticized nature of images.

While striving to balance aesthetics and content, the formats she uses may vary from publications, spatial installations and audio-visual to audio-performative. But The Image remains rooted in the core of her artistic practice, both as subject and material.
